Wow! What a rollercoaster ride Bokeh is every time it comes up - eh? :D
So many fine entries to look at. Unfortunately not all have a chance to shine in the results.
Did you have any that came up short of where you thought they would finish? Besides your own that is, we're rarely satisfied in that regard. He-he. So please, show the "underrated" Bokeh entries from your voting list.
I'll start with this one...thought for sure it was a top 10.

That was a 10 for me as well. But the one that really breaks my heart is this one:
by Gunnsi
This was the hands-down winner for me. Talk about knee-jerk reactions to blur. Bah! Humbug! |

I didn't vote on this one, but it seems that, as usual, a lot of potentially good entries ended up near the bottom of the pile because people imposed their own narror definitions on the project descriptions. Shame.
At least the comments on my own image were fair - some people got DNMC comments when their images clearly contained out of focus parts, many of which were very cleverly designed. The images did meet the challenge, but I think people were looking for shiny circles and voted 1 on images that didn't have them. |

I absolutely loved this shot by lowonenergy. Very engaging, and underrated, IMO.
Edit: And this one by MRubillo:

I voted this lower because it seems to be someone else's artwork taken through a pane of glass. If that's not the case, then it deserves a 12 at least. |

I told someone the other day, you know your score sucked when you find your image in the underrated thread!
Please don't start an "overrated" thread. My images views would skyrocket! |

I hope that before the next Bokeh Challenge that the tutorial on Bokeh is found and displayed. I think there is a difference between Bokeh and an OOF background. The #11 finisher has a good display of Bokeh in my opinion. |

Thinking something doesn't make it so. The definition is easy. Getting people to accept it seems to be the hard part. :-/
From Wikipedia: Bokeh is a photographic term describing the subjective aesthetic qualities of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens. |

LOL. Those posts tend to be corrected fairly quickly. If you prefer... from Dictionary.com: a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image |

I like your statement on "Getting People to Accept It".
I am amazed, no too strong of a word, Suprised that people think you have to go one way to have bokeh (Must have Circles or Must NOT have circles). I find that if the quality of the out of focus area (circles or no) enhances it, it is Good Bokeh.
