| I find it hard to shoot on the fly because I have to fiddle with all my settings. I've settled on using shutter-priority because I guess it's the one I have the best judgement on, but what do all of you have your camera set on for those shots that only have a window of opportunity lasting seconds? Many thanks in advance :) |

You might want to set all manual controls to 'on the fly' settings. Before I leave to take pictures - if I remember to - I set aperture priority to F/6 or 8, time priority to 1/125 and manual to F/6 & 1/125, ISO is alway on 400 as a standart. If you've been using an aperture in apeture priority that won't fit the picture which offers itself for 1 second, just switch to time priority, and you'll have standard settings which suit most occasions again.

Usually f/8 and whatever ambient light calls for for shutter. If I'm driving I'll do a quick meter when it's safe (the camera is always in the passenger seat). If lighting changes it's a quick turn of the dial when shooting, it's reflex.

oh - I'm a manual type, I shy away from the other modes. |
