What's the best method to shoot stars? At first I thought of long exposures, but the fact is the Earth is moving and everything came out blurry. Then I reduced the f to 4 (min.), increased the iso to 800, and set the exposure to between 90 and 120 seconds. Here's what I got:
(Sigma 10-20 at 10mm)
It's pretty, but a bit confusing. I'm not sure if the problem is photo skills or PS skills (probably both).

Anything longer than 30 seconds will have some motion amongst it. Do a search amongst the forums as I recall there were a few in depth threads on this subject.

If you want crisp stars with no tails you will have to get a tracking base. It moves your camera in sequence with the movement of the earth. I know they have them for telescopes, they may make a tripod head as well. |
