What else is funny is that I lost .7 on my bokeh while in this discussion. LOL. |
.7??! or .07 ? That much of a drop this late in the voting would take a lot of votes. Man, tough crowd if your image dropped .7 even in a full day.
I think i mine dropped .7, I would be in a negative overall score. :-) |
Ha! Woops. .07. That would suck if it dropped .7. I have been dropping slowly since the halfway point. Sort of dissapointing. |

Well, the good news is my entry has been climbing since it's entry, but the bad news is it is still well short of mediocrity. Finally hit the 4.5 mark after starting out at 4.1. Gotta love DPC voters ;-)
Edit: well, it was short lived. it's now at 4.49 and likely will never see the 4.5 mark again. It was a nice 10 minutes while it lasted, lol.

No offense to you personally, but I did not mean funny as in HAHA...I was refering to funny as in how childish this thread is becoming. I guess next time I should just say so. I understand your love for the country and your passion, but this is not helping your cause. |

What I hate is when you have an entry that starts at 6, and then slowly and painfully falls a little every day. That is torture. |

Except maybe the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. I think these are good things. |
The Declaration of Independence was an act of treason, not patriotism. The Constitution was an attempt to create the laws of a new country. If the Constitutional Congress were patriotic, and unconditionally loved their new country, they would not have spent so much time drafting a document to defend and maintain their Enlightenment ideals.
But thank you for mentioning the objects of *my* patriotism, much more worthy than a flag.

lol... when I saw the thread title I actually thought someone was suggesting a challenge title...
that would have been the most boring challenge ever, never mind the patriotism and other crap like that, just to see 400 pictures of the same thing from different angles can't be interesting, no matter what the subject is...
hmmm... on second thought... what about the nude challenges.......

Since this has descended into petty, irrational bickering, it is now where it belongs.
I'll also warn those who are engaging in personal attacks, knock it off. |

Actually, the USA sends very, very little aid to anyone in proportion to its GNP. And about 90% of the aid given by the USA is in the form of weapons, so that other countries will fight American wars without the USA getting its hands dirty.
I have no problem with flag waving, but ignorance is ugly. |

Come on man...show me the country that spends more of it's tax revenue on food and medicine for other less fortunate countries.
So you can't deny that America spends BILLIONS on aid to others so you mask it with a "percentage" figure...how sad.
And as for your "war" comment: I would support America not supplying one weapon or military aid to any country. If you think there is chaos now...without the American military the rest of the world would be run by communist OR all kneeling towards Mecca twice a day.
and...if ignorance is ugly...show me where you got your "90% aid in the form of weapons figure". By "aid" I mean GIVING aid in return for NOTHING.

For someone who is ranting about how great we are, and about our freedom, you seem to have very little tolerance for anyone else's opinion and "freedom of speach" or any other freedom for that matter. And trust me I don't need anyone to tell me the pro's and con's. I have served my country in uniform or the past 21 years, my father died in the sevice of this country, and my grandfather carried his scars to his grave. I have seen my share of mortars and bullets and have seen good men die for what they believed in. And why have I sacrificed all those years? To give people like you the freedom to carry on such conversations as this. I respect your opinion, but you have turned this into a bashing session and seem to be very angry about the replies given. I was not attacking you with my comment, and offer my apologies if it was taken that way.

Being patriotic is one thing. Ramming it down everyone's throat no matter where you are, now that's another thing. Before you jump all over this statement, read the next one.
Flags in a wind challenge are perfectly legitimate, regardless of the flag's origin. What flag should American's take pictures of, if they can't photograph their own? Just a question. |

Come on now...why can everyone else speak of "my ignorance" and redicule me and you jump on me about not tolerating the opinion of others? Why did you not post about them not tolerating my freedom of speech? Likely because you support their views and not mine.

Read my original post about how I will vote on any image that depicts a flag of any country...I said anyone who had the guts to put their flag up, no matter what the country, I would start at a 7 and go up as necessary for a good shot.
...to make it fair, I'll only vote on images with a flag.

Tolerating someone's freedom to say whatever they wish to say is not supporting their views. My opinion differs on quite a few comments here, some of yours as well. I support my country by putting my life on the line when called to do so, not by trying to force my opinions down their throats. I feel your pain about the bashing the US has taken over this war and they way the public view stands at this point. However, I remember exactly what our country stands for. Freedom, tolerance, equality, the right to live as we wish without fear of reprisal. Not to say that we are perfect by any means. We have our flaws just as everyone else has. That is what makes us all human. I am not taking sides or standing in the middle, I simply choose my battles when they are worth fighting. |

Challenge = "Wind", and how to show it.
Things that visibly and obviously show/capture the wind = draperies, flags, sailboats, and umbrellas turned inside out (to name four common themes in the challenge).
Anyone who's trying to lay political overtones on the depiction of flags in this challenge has to be out of their mind, IMO.

Politics is the largest cause of hot air in the world.
Wind is, in part, caused by the airflow from regions of hot and cold air.
Ergo, politics is a leading cause of wind, and entirely on topic for that challenge ;) |
Hmmm, I thought politics was the odor after breaking wind. |

What about the bashing I took? Why can I not get angry but others can? Why do you say "I" turned in into bashing when I too took heat?
