My cpu on my computer recently died. So I go to my local comp shop (www.ncix.com) and apparently threw down 800 dollars (now i have to wait longer for a canon 24-70 :( )for a brand new barebones kit. Everything is fine and dandy, but I didn't have a "legit" copy of windows and the version I had had to be done from a fresh install. So I installed it to my second harddrive.
Now I install the canon software and when I hook up the camera, photos wont download like the use to before. Before I would just hook up the camera and a canon window would come up and download all the raw and jpeg files from my camera and organize the photos by dates. I later found out this is a zoombrowser funcion so I downloaded zoombrowser from the canon site, and now when I hook up the camera it says my camera version is not compatable. Now I have to deal with the dredge of downloading the photos through a little 8-1 card reader.
I hope this make sense... I'm drugged up because my wisdom teeth got removed the previous day.
This is starting to make me angry!
Any help would MUCH Be appreciated.

Just a guess. Sorry for your trouble. |

Personally I've always preferred to use the card reader. Put card in, type one command, walk away. Photos are copied to my editing dir, my backup dir, and an external archive in the time it takes me to have a smoke.
If you want some help you need to give details about what version of windows you are running, etc. |

I use windows xp, the problem is the card reader cord is way to short to reach the usb 2.0 reader so I have to use the keyboards usb ports (but sadly its 1.0)
I know I could just put it on the ground and read it from there, but its just irritating, because I can use the windows software but it wont transfer my raw files over (as i like to shoot both in raw and jpeg so I can compare my editing after). Plus it kept it neat by putting it in folders by date.
Maybe I need to use my s2 is cd... but I can't find it anymore :(
I'm running zoombrowser 5.7 and the software im using is straight from the 20d box cd.

I just wish there was a way to get my settings from the first harddrive (with the old xp install) and transfer it to the second harddrive with the new one) |
