Hey guys - i just had to tell SOMEONE!!!!
I know this shot is nothing to brag about, but I am just thrilled beyond belief!!!
I have never owned any lights other than 'flash', and ordered some new toys the other day; got a 500 ws Hensel Integra, and a 5' Softbox to go with it (Photoflex - the Hensel was ridiculous $$$)...
Anyway, here is one of the very first shots - this was pure happy/joy/ takin pics of yer kid/ dont care about composition' kinda stuff....

Congrats on your new toy!
First lesson... lighting from above... (when you only have one light source) most often produces unflattering shadows on portrait models... move the light to SLIGHTLY above eye level.

Thanks for reminding me! I have a LONG way to go with all this stuff... We are planning to turn our living room into a studio, but are (patiently?) waiting for my mother in law to move out next week. Til then, its a little cramped...
