For anyone in the Pittsburgh area that may be stuck on what to shoot for the current challenge, I just heard news of a train derailment in New Brighton. Apparently, it's massive.

OK!
And it's not raining!
That's about 10 minutes from me...how to make it artistic is the question!

Just caught the news (channel 4).
1/6 of newbrighton is evacuated and may be for 3 days.
1 car exploded at 1 am and 2 more may - the firefighters have decided to let it burn out.
the news guy had no ground-based video, so i suspect you couldn't get close enough to get photos, especially if they're evacuating the town
On the other side, it's the Pgh-Chicago mainline and it's blocked, so traints are stacked up from mid ohio to harrisburg - no action shots, but lots of other things to shoot.
And on the news they interviewd my friend Rolli - they didn't mention he works for NS in the yard nearby.
Now to get some pics!

Yeah, part of me was running out the door last night when I saw the "breaking news" story on KDKA, but I opted for sleep instead. I saw that viewers had been sending in digital pictures, so obviously *somebody* was getting close early on.
I might be tempted to go up that way after my daughter's soccer practice. I haven't been awake long enough to read the latest news on it.
Not sure how artistic a train wreck would be, but... who knows.

It might not be artistic, but we all know that we can't not look at a train wreck

I got a few pics...now to dedide what to use and how to use it...a panorama, a close up of carnage, fire, people watching...nothing blew up and no-one was mucking about in the mess so no no-brainers there.
Hmmm....free study material?
Off to shoot an opera fundraiser thingy...bokeh? It's not a game...or can i convince the DPCrs opera is a game? LOL
