This is a RAID5 array - the total space is @75% of what is on the physical drives in ther box but it gives me the ability to lose a single drive without losing any files.
I have another 80-100Gb of stuff to load up but still will leave some room for growth. I can also finally see some free space on the 2 internal and 2 external drives connected directly to the computer.
Anyone who thinks digital is cheaper then film is not adding up everything :-)
Sorry to gloat but it feels like that first decent breath after the flu, just feels all free and clear with space to move :-))

Nice drive, plenty of space. I still find Digital to be substantially cheaper. Development costs alone would kill me for what I might shoot in a day (say 145 shots). With Harddrives space being relatively cheap and the ability to daisy chain them via firewire or use them interchangeably (plus archiving on optical media, until something better comes along), I still think it's a huge cost savings over film (IMO).
It must be a nice feeling though knowing you've got over 500 GB worth of easily usable, centrally located space.
Happy shooting.

Congrats, it's fun when you can start talking about your storage space in Terabyte units :)
A word of warning: don't trust the RAID array. BACKUP!
I work for a national Data Recovery company, and we see RAID arrays come in weekly from high school gamers to multi-billion dollar international corporations. Even RAID arrays fail.
