the firmware update adds a new shooting mode.
You have to twist the dial to the area right in between Manual and Preset1.
They say this new shooting modes takes only ribbon-winning photos regardless of subject being shot.

j/k!

OK, seriously...
The firmware update affects the D200 in the following:

# Support for the wireless transmitter WT-3 has been added.
# An Image authentication option has been added to the cameras setup menu. For full functionality the optional Nikon Image Authentication Software is required to authenticate images.

I don't use the camera, but from the sounds of it, doesn't seem to add anything much.

yeah, sound like it to me too. Now if they just would have made the 20 dollar wireless remote work that would have been sweet, instead of having to spend $200+ dollars on the compatible remote would have made this camera perfect. Why wouldn't they do this?!
Thanks for the help. :)
