Hey everyone,
I just got hired (if I want the job) by Rowing Canada to shoot the 2003 Canadian Olympic Rowing Trials from Nov. 21-23. It's for the purposes of selling prints to rowers, should they want them.
2 questions...
1. Anyone ever shot rowing from a committee boat before? I am thinking my 70-200 F4L is going to be inadequate. If my F717 sells and I can make some money on the job and in future jobs, I may think about the 300 F4L IS. Renting from Vancouver seems to make more sense though. So what would you rent? 300 F2.8 or 400 F2.8 sounds about right, though I wonder.
2. Pricing. How would one price these photos? For the few contract shoots I've done I've always sold my services on a one-time-fee basis and then the client has done what they may with the shots. For this, I don't know what to charge for 4x6s, 5x7s, 8x10s etc. I was thinking $5, $10, $20 but being an athlete myself, and being grateful for the experience at such a meet, I don't want to overcharge athletes but at the same time don't want to build a reputation for being cheap and easy around town.
Any insight?
Thanks.
