Where to start...
dassilem, no problem. I expect mixed reviews. =)
rex, I don't store passwords. So you're not "giving me" your password. I have no incentive to want it. Just like DPC has no incentive to ban users who use PPC.
The site is no threat to DPC or its users. It took me 5 days to write it from scratch. They could do the same and my website would be out on the street. But what do I care? I still win, because I get to use DPC's version.
wavelength, this site was written by a DPC'er for DPC'ers to look and feel like DPC. No ugly ads. It's like having a neighboorhood coffee shop instead of a Starbucks. |

PM langdon, and have him put it on the Community Projects page.
After you make an actual signup page that is. I'm not sending you my password.

Alright, since I don't want to cause anyone to break their DPC terms of service, I've attempted to resolve the password issue.
Your username will be the same as for DPC. To set your PPC password, you'll need to send me (smurfguy) a PM containing only the text:
PPC_PASSWD=whatever
That will set your PPC password. Of course, you should use something other than 'whatever' as your password.
This is automated. My website will receive your PM and set your password accordingly, so it should only take a few minutes for this to take effect.
Please let me know if you have any problems with this process. I had to try the login twice at one point, but that may have been a fluke.
Cheers,
-Jeff
Edit: Even those who have already used the site will need to go through this procedure. Also, there's no need to wait for a reply, your password will be set with a couple minutes.

I see that the pictures to be voted on are up and I can open each one but for some reason it is reporting an error when I try to vote. Do I need to leave a comment to vote?

You don't need to leave a comment to vote, and when you return to an image you've already voted on (via navigation through the pages, not the back button) it will show you what you've voted on an image.
The overview page should also group images by the score you gave them.
What is the error, exactly?
---
Note about how voting works: if you're logged in you will be able to see your submission and current scores for your image under the challenge voting overview page (the one that says what you've voted on everybody else's images). If you click on your image, you can see comments left for it.

Just a little error marker down on the left bottom corner of the screen by the Explorer sign. Doesnt change the page or anything. I can type out a comment but when I go to vote the page stays open and nothing happens.
It says "Error on page"

Ok - that's a JavaScript error. If you double click the error icon, it should tell you more info.
I'll look into it.
Thanks!

Line 93 is the one thing not visible. Hope this helps. I do have 2 votes on my image though - so its working for some people.

Thanks Tim! IE was being picky about the javascript code, but I fixed it.
Voting should now work for Internet Explorer.

Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know of a couple new features implemented recently in PPChallenge.
First and foremost, the My Stats page is complete, which will display a few key statistics about you and other users (when you click on peoples' usernames.)
Second is the vote graph, which is displayed after challenges are finished, much like DPC's.
In case you haven't been keeping up, you can set and reset your PPC password by sending me a PM, and there's a link to change your password once you're logged in. Also, watch for PPChallenge threads I start in this Forum announcing new challenges.
Those who have participated thus far are having a lot of fun, and we're waiting for you to join us! Click here to see the recently completed challenges. Anyone with a DPC username can log in and play - just PM me to set your password.
Please feel free to PM me with further suggestions or bugs you find. Thank you so much!
Cheers,
-Jeff
