has anyone had any experience with or heard anything good about apple Aperture? my high school is trying to get a hold of a copy but untill then im left wondering.

Imagineer uses Aperture extensively. I think he has described it as "wonderful, but deeply flawed" or some such language. He might be able to give you some feedback.

I've heard mixed reviews on Aperture.

You can also try out the Adobe Lightroom beta2 for free. It will be a competitor to Aperture.

You can download it from the Adobe site.

Most of my knowledge of Apple's Aperture program comes from this article. I don't know if anything's changed.

It sounds as if there are serious fundamental problems with the architecture of the program; but if you're just using OSX I don't see why that'd stop you. Drink the Kool-Aid® and enjoy. Oh yeah.
