You are delighted at the prospect of redoing your laundry room and your step quickens when looking at new washers and dryers.

Yup, I hear you on this one. Weather is getting sucky here, football season is a bust and I'm looking forward to going out and looking at freezers this weekend.... ugh! |

heheee I know just what you mean, Judy!
I'm so easily amused, I got excited last week when my daughter broke the blender and I got to shop for a new one. Stainless baby, stainless! :)

Oh, heck, I think appliance shopping is a blast! I still remember the thrill I felt when I got my Maytag Neptune front loaders. I kept wandering into the laundry room to admire them :-) And don't even get me started on kitchen paraphernalia. I have about 20 good knives, I have a couple dozen different pots and pans, a blender, two food processors (11-cup and mini), a mandoline (Ducky likes it), a 40-inch, 2-oven stove, etc etc ad nauseum...

You call that doldrums?? I was at Home Depot Monday morning at 6:00 AM waiting in line to get one of the 300 generators that had been shipped in the night before. This was so I can get my sump pump, refrigerator, and (most importantly) furnace up and running because power had been out since last Thursday evening. My electric finally came back up yesterday afternoon, but that 5000 watt Coleman beauty is now mine, and I will NEVER be stuck for almost 4 days without power again!
Front-load dishwasher...PFFFFT!
Sorry, it's been a rough weekend to live in Buffalo. At least the Sabres are the best team in the league, and I get to sit in the arena Friday night and watch them beat up on Carolina... :o) |

My dishwasher is 12 years old, uses a ton of water, wastes soap like crazy and doesn't get the dishes all that clean. Her name is Amanda and it'll be at least 6 more years before I can get rid of her
I've thought about shopping for a new one but there's always too much security. Maybe I should check ut Myspace :P
Seriously though I get excited about shopping for 2x4s. Appliances and gadgets and tools are just super bonus happy step. What can I say, I'm easy to please. :) |

People! PEOPLE! We are lusting after front-loading CLOTHES washers! As far as I know, all dishwashers are front-loading. The mechanical ones anyway. I imagine Amanda's a side-loader?
Front loading washing machines are much easier on clothes (no agitator beating them up) and use much less water.

I don't know about the front loaders but I saw a pretty groovy orange one on t.v. |

If you would have just spelled her name correctly (A-M-A-N-A) you'd have cleaner dishes and a better warranty ... : ) |

In Europe you will be hard pressed to find a top-loading clothes washer! They are all front-loading. In the same way that you will find lots of diesel-powered cars (in fact, in some countries, more than half the running cars are diesel-powered). That must mean we can't afford the alternatives... :) |

When we bought our new LG 7kg front loader with direct shaft drive instead of belts, I thought wow! Then it went into spin at 1600 rpm and sounded like concord revving up!! Now that is a special machine, orgasmic!!
I love white goods:)
Bring on a shiny, silver microwave and I am anyones! |

Here we use top-loaders because we can't afford the alternative :(
I just got a to-die-for top loader, paid under $400, reg $750, and the cheapie front-loaders start at $800 for a piece of doggy-do. Basically, they run at least twice as much as the equivalent model of top-loader, dammit. I HATE wasting so much water, but at least that's still cheap...

Here a good front-loader will set you back around 400 euros, that is, 500 USD, but you can buy a cheap one for 250 euros, that is, 310 USD. I can't even say how much for a top loader! Hey maybe I could open an export business! :) |

This bad boy looks pretty awesome. It has 14 different types of cycles for remival of specific kinds of stains. Plus it washes your clothes in 15 minutes. Way better than Amanda that will take at least a week to get her laundry done ;) |

Maytag's da shizzle. The only whiteware appliance that can be handed down through generations.
Poo poo to other manufacturers! *tosses head back and snorts* |
