I am thinking about taking my 7 year old son to Yosemite in May and I was wondering what airport would be the best to fly into. I am coming from Orlando and I am looking for closest as well as easiest to travel from. Thanks!

Off the top of my head, I would say Fresno. Depending on which entrance you plan on using, there may be another airport closer, but I don't know.

Fresno is probably the closest small airport. Direct from Florida, you'll probably have to fly into San Jose, Oakland, or San Francisco -- they are all within about 30 miles of each other, and are within about 3-4 hours (I think) drive to the park. Better make reservations now, it's crowded these days. You probably won't be able to drive all the way in either ... beter check the park's website for details!

Pretty close to 4 hours from the major airports(SF, Oakland, San Jose). Sacramento is another option (maybe a little closer). May will be busy but summer vacations haven't started yet for most. Should have tons of water to see. Take him up the mist trail, uphill but not to long of a hike so a 7 yr old should do fine. Pack your rain jackets. Definitely make reservations if you plan on staying overnight.

Check road conditions as a rockslide closed one of the main entrance routes and not sure if it is open. Use Hwy 120 if coming from SF, Oakland, Sac, or Hwy 41 coming from Fresno.

Traffic is the best coming from Sacramento but Bay Area airports are not too bad, depending on time of day.

I'd reccomend Sacramento. Things are a bit easier and less crowded in the long run from there than SF/Oak/San Jose. However, they're all about the same distance away, so go with the cheapest, and the easiest to get a car.

Yosemite is AWESOME. I've spent a week there before, and felt like I only covered the big things of the Valley and some of the highlands. There was still sooo much to see/do. I could go back for a year and maybe see everything I wanted to see.

Though, I say that about RMNP, Yosemite, Yellowstone, and several other National Parks.
