it sure does... if you have the resourses I would go with the SB-800 acts as a master for wireless shoots and it an all around better flash

yes it does and I love it. like cudjoem suggested, I was advised to go with the SB-800 but went with the SB600 do to pocketbook constraints. I figure down the road if needed I'd expand to the SB800 to use as the master that can still trigger the sb600...err at least I think..

The on camera flash will trigger the SB-600 off camera wireless using commander mode. You don't need the SB-800 to do that.

Does the D-50 have commander mode? My wife has our D-50 with her today so I can't look til after 5PM.. Anyway If not you will need a SU-4 on the SB-600 to get it to fire. I have two of the SB-600s and the SU-4's they work quite well.

Well I googled it and I guess not. So perhaps the SB-800 is needed. The D70 and the D80 don't have that limitation.

I didnt think it did or I wouldn't have had to shell out 160 bucks for the 2 SU-4's I bought. lol But I wasn't sure because I never really knew much if anything about the commander mode til I got the D-200.
