It's been a long time since I've been active in forums--the last one was for a sci-fi show and I remember us have "factions" dedicated to individual characters/ides in the show. I was a member of several. :)

So how do "teams" work here? Do they have a purpose, or are they just plain fun?

It's mostly just for fun. The WPL tournament finishes tomorrow night. That one was just groups of photographers using the average of their 4 highest scores for the week to see who wins. There were a lot of upsets and surprises, some simply due to a lack of participation from top photographers. :-/

The MS Tournament is a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis that starts with tomorrow's Open Challenge entries. That one is a head to head competition among individual photographers with cash prizes for the top finishers.
