Anyone have any recommendations for good books on composition or lighting? I'd rather avoid the more technical "use a larger aperture to blur the background" stuff.
I worked on the lighting and composition for my particular photo this week in 4 different locations in different conditions, finally came up with a results I was sort-of pleased with...I think it could be avoided if I knew some more about it so I could have a better idea of what might work, rather than just straight trial and error.
Of course, poor photo isn't doing too well. Never occured to me that people wouldn't know what it was :-P

Kimbly,
I found a very practical and helpful lighting book called 'Learning to Light.' Covers lighting from using home light and desk lamps to studio gear. very readable tons of examples very specific recommendations. check it out at Amazon. Learning to Light
Also all the books coauthored by ALex Larg and Jane Wood are EXCELLENT real world example books with plan diagrams.
Hope this info is helpful to you.
