Yesterday I burned a Tiff file to CD on my DVD/CD burner. I was going to have it printed but when I got there they said it had to be a jpeg file. I returned home and went to burn another new CD with the picture in jpeg mode and I got a failed error at 40X. I tried again and again with different CDs (from the same pack of 50) and the same thing keeps happening. No prior problems with this device.
I go to device manager and it says that the device is working properly and that the driver is ok. I can read from the drive by playing CD’s and DVD’s. I just don’t see how it could be a hardware problem that quick, even though I know it could happen. Anyone have any ideas on what to try? I don’t have any other removable drive to save to other than this DVD/CD Burner. BTW it’s internal. Computer is a Gateway.
Thanks,
SDW
EDIT: I have sense cleaned the drive by blowing out with canned air.

Try reducing your write buffer to 32x or lower. It will take longer to burn but for what ever reason you are getting a buffer overrun at 40x. Hope it helps. |
