Hi there,
I've been looking for a slim / slip in the pocket type camera. There is just such a HUGE selection out there.
So far I've spotted the Casio Z1000 or the Casio S770 that looks good.
Anyone had any experience with these cameras?
Anyone recommend a similar type camera?
many thanks
Keith

I've used a friend's Sony Cybershot DSC-N1 a couple of times.
It's a very compact camera with great resolution. Like many Sony products, though, it seems a little pricey. |

| My mom has one of the Casio Exslim cameras - I think the Z600 or some such. It has antishake and a TON of modes preprogrammed. I was pretty darn impressed with what it could do. |

I had a Z750 until it was in my back pocket and I fell off of a chair that I was standing on. It was an incredible camera. Many options that actually were easy to use and actually made a difference. Very intuitive camera (easy to operate). Sharpness, color etc perfect!.
NOW THE BAD: There is a built in "Lens Error" problem that the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge. As the lens pops out it will stop, retract and shut down the camera. Maddening and even worse because Casio will not admit to a problem which I know is not altogether rare considering the many consumer posts that I found on the web.
If it were not for that I would buy another today.

Thanks for the comments guys.
jrjr - did a load of research after you mentioned this, looks like it is isolated to the z750, no reports yet of this affecting the z770 or z1000
kAffy - I'll definitely look at the sony dsc's t10 is now out
goodman - thanks, already checked, found some good reviews at steves digicams and dpreview
Fromac - thanks for getting the thread started again!

| The Casios are nice but have quality issues, several ex750s and ez500s have had lens issues (Monaco NZ, Casio distributor in NZ said to me that it was due to the on photo button being pressed while in the pockets of operators as it is set by default to turn the camera on), The Canon Ixus 60-65 would be my choice, better sensor(same as in the Sonys), ISO up to 800, has a view finder, and a 2cm macro. Very fast focus aswell. The bad is that the battery in the canon is bout 200-ish shots, the sony w30-70 models are doublish this as are the Casios. If you can handle a bit more bulk then get the Fuji f31fd, best low light performance, semi-manual control, 500+ shot battery. Used all of these cameras btw! |
