This past weekend, I took a picture that I reallly liked.

Sunday evening (after the Eagles game), I spent some time PP'ing it, submitted it to the Free Study Challenge, and then made a For Print version of it.

I thought I had my color management right...using PS CS and an EPSON 785EPX, but each time I printed (and making adjustments to the color management), the printed image looked horrible. I have had success previously printing other images to this printer, and I thought I knew what I was doing. After about 6 attempts, I decided to make a choice: give MPix a try, or bash my bald head repeatedly into the printer or monitor.

I have never used an online printing service before, and I had heard some good things about MPix...

So I gave MPix a shot and ordered a 4x6 and an 8x12 (I felt that the detail would be lost in the 4x6), both on Metallic paper. I figured this image would be the perfect test image for MPix, since it was such a challenge for me...

Two days later (yesterday) I was ripping open the MPix box and was completely astounded with the work they did. And I was right - the 8x12 really let the details shine. They did fabulous work...(I can't believe I just said 'fabulous').

I am so very happy with MPix right now, and once I get a frame, that puppy is going on one of my walls.

Summary: MPix is really good - mattmac's printing days are over.

MPIX does totally rock. I've tried several other internet printing companies and they didn't come close. I have printed every order with MPIX ever since. I love how they show you and you can modify crops. Their frames are crappy so don't ever order one of those (unless they've changed in the past several months). I only wish they had a way of changing views of pictures from thumbnails to list form sometimes because when you shoot a wedding and load 700 pictures to them it gets cumbersome loading pages with that many shots on it. They are still "fabulous", though.

I agree....I LOVE MPIX. I really wish they would get something going like SmugMug does where you can set your own print prices. Personally, I think their prints are much better than EZPrints that SmugMug uses.

Ditto! I use MPix for everything! I love the quality of the prints and I can rest assured that they will print it exactly as I want them to! (Personally, I never have used their color correction service as I prefer it to be printed the way *I* want). I've ordered prints from them at 2PM for overnight delivery and had them on my doorstep by noon the next business day! I think they're awesome, and they have great prices (IMO). Plus, they're constantly adding new products.

Funny you should mention it. I placed an order yesterday morning, and they are waiting for me at home. Alway lightening fast turnarounds, and their quality is amazing. One of my prints is a 16x20, which I get a little nervous about. I'm only charging my customer $60 for it, but hey--it's $60 and it better look good! I'm sure it will be fine. Stick with mpix--they won't steer you wrong.
