I'm sure you've all seen this question a thousand times, but hey, I'm new and I'll ask it again.
What would you all consider the must haves for lighting equipement? (flashes, lights, etc.)

I searched under the Hardware/Software category for "lighting equipment"...results:

A good eye for light.
(I'm still working on that requirement myself)

After that... it depends on what you plan to do. I have studio strobes for work in studio and in large areas. And I use my Canon 580EX, 550EX and 420EX as portable light. But don't forget reflectors.

All depends on what you want to do - for car photography there is a special studio in california with a 50 foot long softbox that is some 40,000 WS of light. If you're shooting cars for magazine ads you need that, but if you shooting a wedding on a cloudy afternoon outside you might do better with an on-camera flash. On a sunny day you need gobos and reflectors. In a studio there are lots of choices, but on the beach you need battery powered lights, or a generator, and since you're outside perhaps sandbags to keep things from falling over. Shooting strobes other than in eTTL mode or using a GN and mathematics you'll need a light meter.
I shoot Canon and have 2 on-camera flashes (a sigma and a metz) and 4 studio strobes with the assorted stands and umbrellas and softboxes and backdrops and stands for that, a sekonic lightmeter and pocket wizards. I also have a couple of reflectors, stands and stands for them.

On-camera meaning the hot shoe flash not the one that comes ON the camera. (they suck in most cases)
Would you agree?
