I can't believe anyone is standing nearby, knowing how buildings on fire in NYC are so prone to collapsing into their footprints! |

I think it was just a rookie pilot mishap or suicide. Maybe the blame should go to the Detroit Tigers.

He placed a Mayday call just before the crash, he was in trouble, so probably rookie error. He'd only had pilot's license one year.

LOL! Why tread lightly? We are talking about "facts" here.
Seriously. The "lesson we learned" from 9-11 is that steel and concrete structures are capable of collapsing, at freefall speed, from fire alone. With this in mind, you'd think that the authorities would be going to great lengths to preserve the safety of all onlookers anytime the possibility exists for such an event to recur. |

bunch of reporters trying to get the story up as quickly as possible and the facts change from minute to minute.
unfortunately that's the nature of the biz.
but my heart goes out for the loss of life and a city that doesn't need any more tragedy.

I thought what we learned is that buildings that are on fire miraculously fall STRAIGHT down so no need to worry that much.
Even buildings that didn't get hit fall straight down...
Oh, I may be hijacking - back to your regularly scheduled story
Isn't technology great? A plane crash that will not affect most of the world broadcast because there's really horrible footage to go with it - so it MUST be news! A train wreck every hour on the hour - now competing train wrecks on two or three different networks. Do we really need this?
My sympathy to those killed and hurt -

My sympathy as well.
However, it is quite convenient for the media. Now they don't have to spend so much time trying to make sense of the jibberish that came out of the president's mouth today! |

If you want to argue politics so bad that you'll hijack a thread about people that died today, why not just start a rant to argue what ever you feel like arguing about and let this thread be what it is?
