He placed a Mayday call just before the crash, he was in trouble, so probably rookie error. He'd only had pilot's license one year.

Seriously. The "lesson we learned" from 9-11 is that steel and concrete structures are capable of collapsing, at freefall speed, from fire alone. With this in mind, you'd think that the authorities would be going to great lengths to preserve the safety of all onlookers anytime the possibility exists for such an event to recur.
