Well, seeing as a lot of the top placing photos had more than two objects. I decided I'd post my original composition for this shot.

As entered...(I was really amazed that this did as well as my free study entry of the turtle, which I felt was a far better photo)

Outtake

I realized there was a two object limit so I ceased shooting the second banana (much to my wife's pleasure who had been in the middle of eating it when I so stole it away with the retort... "it's for a challenge dear"). *lol* [Please not I have not fully processed the outtake.]

(I seemed to get a lot of mixed reactions for the sticker. Some loved it's inclusion, others felt it distracting. I am sure a few voted me a "1" for the fact that the sticker technically constituted a third object.)

I gave you a decent score, but I would have scored the outtake higher. I'd've cut you some slack because it's so funny.

I don't get it. The DPC'rs with the whole DNMC thing.
The challenge mandated exactly 2 objects, but i see a lot of high scoring images not in compliance.

As for mine, i'd eallly like to know how if so it DNMC.

The only reason one might take the letter and bottle as opposites is due to the name 'Defiance'. It all boils down to how one looks at the photo. While I didn't vote on it and personally think it's a nice shot and a good idea, I may have have viewed it as being similar items. But I wouldn't have voted that it 'DNMC'.

Added: Now you take that as a learning curve and apply it to your next challenge.

to be honest I was glad that some shots had the voters a little more lax on DNMC since I think it has been getting out of hand. the blue winner had more objects in the photo but obvioulsy had two objects as the subject and his idea won over voters. as far as yours I think that those two things are related (drinking and driving) and while your photo was a piece of paper and scotch that is not what stuck in peoples minds while viewing it. also I don't think the technicals are very strong in that the focus is not very sharp on the bottle. DPC voters tend to put alot of emphasis (too much sometimes) on sharpness. also I am not a fan of the lighting or the water drops on the piece of paper.

With all that said If you like the photo then that is all that matters. My entry was right there with yours and I had soem of the same faults but I knew that and wanted the shot to look like it did. so My score is not great but I love my shot and that is the most important thing.

I think also that mine may have been a bit too complexed the average DPC'r because it involved too much reading hahahah.
But i share the same sentiment with your ending quote

I agree with you David. My shot is pretty bland (I knew that upon entry), but it did follow the challenge as opposed to some Really Good shots that simply didn't.

I think This Thread was started lastnight. I believe they are autogenerated now by the server when the challenges end.
