1.) Everytime I open up a new image, this window appears:
Missing Profile
---------------
The RGB document does not have an embedded color profile.
How do you want to proceed?
---------------------------
o Leave as is (dont color manag)
o Assign working RB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
o Assign profile: Adobe RGB(1998)
2.) Is there any way I can set the following defaults in Photoshop:
- Open new image: Default measurement is pixels [currently inches]
- Once new image is opened: Default don't Show Extras [currently Show Extras]
- Cropping Image: Default measurement pixels [currently inches]

I think all of those are set from within a series of Preferences dialog boxes. What version/platform are you using? |

I managed to fix the default measurements to pixels from the Preference dialog boxes, but i've no clue about the rest |

For the profiles, look under FILE>COLOR SETTINGS>PROFILES or something like that. For the "extras" problem, go to the General prefs and check the box to retain the palettes when you quit -- that might save your working environment. |

I'll have to check version 6 at work.
I think you want to set the profile to sRGB for JPEGs posted to the internet. Better check with someone else too, though. |

I agree--set it for sRGB for jpeg's.

Diff question - I'm getting that "you've set your directory and scratch volume to the same space" (whatever it is exactly) and i never used to get this but I messed with prefs - what pref do I change to get it to stop that? lol

Assuming PS 7.0, Edit/Preferences/Plug-ins & Scratch disks
Set the scratch disk to a different physical drive if possible
to increase performance.
LOL, I ran afoul of this some time ago.
