First off, I'm stupid. I used a cheap flash directly on the shoe of my XT, and it worked for a while but then stopped working, and the shoe seems to be dead. I was planning on selling the camera in a little over a week, but this takes a whole lot off the value since it doesn't have a PC port.

Has anyone been able to have the manufacturer fix the shoe? I'm going to call Canon tomorrow and see if they'll do it for free if it's still in warranty - if not I think I'll just take the loss, dump the camera for what I can get and never look at a non-brand name flash again.

I was thinking I could get about $675 for the body, grip, 4 batteries, charger, 1gb card, and remote; I think I'll be lucky to get $550 without a working shoe... anyone interested? I had a buyer but he said he didn't want it if he couldn't use external flash.

Maybe Canon will come through after all.. if it'll cost much more than like $50 though, I won't do it.
