| i dont know too much about these, but it looks nice. can anyone think of a reason i shouldn't get this? |

Lol, I was thinking about the 1200mm version a while back. Heard you can only get novelty pictures from them, horrible quality.. Tripod is a must.

It's 80 bucks you won't have to put towards a real lense? |

| What router said. It's hard to see you being anything but horribly disappointed in this lens. Save your money, invest in a quality lens. Camera bodies will come and go, but your lens collection should be built for a lifetime. For long shots, I invested in the Canon 70-200 f4 - a tremendous value for the very reasonable price. For a bit more reach, I went for the Canon 400mm f5.6 prime. Both are "L" lenses, both are top notch quality in build and image. Don't skimp when it comes to lenses, and don't buy any cheap trash like that Opteka. |

I recently bought a meyer görlitz 300/4 for about $40 ;) great value for the money(it looks really good on my desk), its just a bit on the heavy side.
