| That sux! How many clicks is normal in the lifespan of a camera? I think I've got a little over 6000 on my 30D. |

this is an electronics issue not a shutter problem ..
-- should be minimully 50,000 on the d200
i've got 30,000 on the D100 -
but using the D100 is like typing with mittens on :(

| Damn, that sucks. Hopefully they don't screw you and say it was 'user error' or something that broke it... |

My D70 went on the fritz and I was out of waranty. I searched the web for others who had the exact same problem and found some who did and had got it fixed out of waranty.
I then without (saying anything about my findings) called Nikon service and sent it in. When they sent be a quote, I countered with the fact that I experienced the same problem as other users (this was not an offical recall or documented problem) and that I would like to work done as customer satisfaction. I pointed out to them that I had purchased Nikon equipment for over 20 years and had rock solid results and that just because my camera was digital that It should last longer than two years.
First of all, Kudos to Nikon service, they are open 24/7 and great to work with. Second, they did the repair free of charge, the entire deal was very low key, in fact I believe I found out that the repair was free by logging into the website to get a status update. They fixed it sent it back and I have not had a problem since.
Good luck but I would give them a try. |
