From 50 feet...

I found a nice league to join. They pretty much do tactical stuff every week so starting next week, I'm in.

League? As in competition?

Sounds like fun, but if they start talking about an "elimination" tournament, be wary. ;-)

IDPA or IPSC/USPSA?

I'm not sure what kind of league it is. Just a bunch of local guys I guess. I know that if you score near the top, you move on to other competitions, but I'm just joining because I'll get a discount and good practice for tactical stuff like double taps, shooting from behind objects, etc.

Cool! I have done allot of that here. It is good fun and very educating. Good luck.

Oh and be careful cuz you think photography is expensive. Competition and practice and eventually a full race custom handgun Like this //www.stiguns.com/ (Look at the TRUBOR GRANDMASTER) is much more expensive. It is also more addicting than anything I have every done.

Wow yeah that is some expensive stuff. I don't even really want to get into doing competitions. I just like the fact that this league puts you through a variety of drills each time...and it's hard to come up with that stuff on your own. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure you're not even allowed to draw from your holster on this range...unless you're participating in a league event. They basically have half the range blocked off just for the league. You'll do stuff like draw, step back, fire two to the body mass, two steps right, shoot another two into another target body mass (analyze the BG to see if he's neutralized, ie. not wearing body armor), then one to the head, etc.

It was definately some better training than what you'd be allowed to do yourself at the range.

You know what they say about the IDPA, don't you?

It stands for I Don't Practice Anymore...

I am friends with Taran Butler...if you are familiar with him. He pretty much wins all the competitions he enters and trains actors for movie roles.

LOL

I grew up shooting with Rob Leatham and Brian Enos in Arizona. I used to work for Ernie Hill and Dillon Precision and I have not competed in awhile. I don't know Taran Butler but he is quite accomplished.

Honestly David, if you can't get that grouping tighter we'll have to take your toys away from you.

Nice shooting man, at one point we had a tactical range at one of the local ranges. It was hella fun; twenty five 6" round targets that were random heights and would randomly raise. You had one and a half seconds to aim and fire. I can't tell you how many rounds I burnt through in my 9MM.

Alas, they were doing some illegal stuff and they shut the place down.

Yeah, they shut down the range close to my house also. :( But, that was just suberbia taking over. I loved going, but now I dont have a place to go without drivng way across town.

At any rate, have fun deapee...you are lucky to have a place like that you can go shoot.
