Any ideas how I could pull off a volumetric light effect in my little pretend basement studio?

| A snoot on your light and some smoke. |

Thanks for the reply. Any other ideas? I forgot to mentin that I only have continuous tungsten lights.

| Nope, that's pretty much how to do it. Since you're using hot lights just don't build your snoot out of anything flammable. |

or you could build the snoot out of something flammable to get the smoke :P
