I found this thread too late to get in the game but really enjoyed looking through all the transformations... nice work, editors! Hope it's ok that I commented. Btw, is the original large file still downloadable? And, I would love to get in on a future game if and when this starts up again.
Good luck, players :) |

Meanwile, in response to your message and some PMs, I have already pulled the original from the site where I had it posted, but will put it back up because people are asking for it. I'll do that when I get home from work and then post a link here. |

For anyone who wanted to take a look, the camera original file has been made available here. Please make sure you select the "original" from under the image so you are downloading the full res version.
Voting in this contest ends tonight and I'll post the results tomorrow morning (server time). After that, if anyone else wants to post their take on the image, this thread will be the place to do it. |

I actually enjoyed voting the original a zero - it's the only chance I'm going to get in dpc (related) voting to give anyone a zero so I took the opportunity with open arms.

Edit: Never mind, I am wrong, there is a zero!

This was a very cool challenge. I loved seeing all the different results that people came up with! Are we going to be able to see people's editing steps at some point? |

I added the name of the photographer (DPC username) to each photo and turned off voting. I'll post the full results tonight and add the editing steps that were provided to me at the start. Check back in 12 hours.
Congrats everybody, it was fun. Players-at-home, feel free to post your own edits now. |

Crap! Does this mean I have to come up with the next pic? With the names that entered this thing I was sure that I didnt really stand a chance so I never even thought of it.
Interesting work overall. THere were avenues that I probably never would have considered going down and the artistic variety was neat to look at. I dont think I placed in words my goal for the end product in my editing description. I told what I did but not what I was shooting for. I would be interested in not only seeing the editing steps of each shot but also hearing the vision of each editor.
My goal in the shot was to clean the pic up. I was attempting to make it look as realistic as possible so that the editing was not going to be noticeable. Not so much an artistic vision but maybe more along the lines of what you see people do to scanned hard copy pictures that have been damaged by water or something. Reconstructive to a certain extent maybe. I dont take pictures like this and it was fun to edit something different.
Edit - I may have been to quick to assume I won. I now see that the scores are no longer visible. Maybe a couple of my high votes will get dropped in rollover.

Looks like you're the only four Tim. I'm working on getting the actual score breakdown (to a tenth of a place) back. I'll post ASAP. |

OK, I got the scores up by the usernames now. It's annoying though, because when you ask it to sort by highest rated, the user names disappear and it seems to just round to the nearest whole number and not sort by absolute rank. I've asked Neil for his help (it's his gallery, maybe he knows the inner workings).
Anyway, here is the link for anybody who wants to have a look at all the entries and scores.

Congrats to timfythetoo for his high score. Tim gets to organize the next round and select the pic.
Tim, I'll send you all the (excellent) info Neil provided to me later this evening. |

Way to go Tim!
I'm not surprised I liked yours, as it looks quite similar to my edit.

Well - I am searching through my folders of pics trying to find one that may be good for this type of challenge. Life is pretty busy in my household right now but if it is pretty easy to organize round 6 then I will plan on it within the next 2 weeks. I will open a thread when the time gets closer to start taking names of those who want to officially play. Please dont bombard me with PMs until the thread is open. We will try to keep it fair.

OK, I've gone back now and added the editing steps so when you view each picture, the comments contain all the steps, as provided by the contest entrant (except Neil and Crayon who didn't send their steps, tisk, tisk).

Congrats again to timfythetoo for the win. Watch for Tim's new thread before you thrown your name in for the next round. |
