More than dangerous for me ... the 5D is looking more realistic daily. The price for it has been slowly dropping, will be interesting if the price goes back up a little because the demand will increase. |

You can get a Canon 5D for US$2,200 when you apply the Double rebate if you buy a lens with it...
B & H deal
This must mean that Canon is Updating its Pro DSLR line in January...

Why do they even bother putting rebates on the lenses? Does $35-50 really matter when you're buying a $1000+ lens? I don't think. Is it nice? Yes. But if someone really needs this lens are they really gonna wait for a cheesy rebate in order to buy it? I wouldn't. You can't even get a decent polarizer to put on it for $50.

For someone buying two items, that $50 becomes $100, which is 10% of that hypothetical $1000 lens. I'd say 10% is pretty significant.
Now if they could find a respectable company to handle the rebates... :-P

That's just it. You have to buy 2 or more lens to make it worthwhile. Then it's really not even worthwhile. So hypothetically you'd be spending $2000 which is only 5%. Most people aren't buying 2 $1000+ lenses at once.

agreed but many people like myself don't need the lens so waiting a couple of months for a rebate is still a nice savings. |
