Thanks for the kind words Lorene...

and I totally agree....

stupid bond challenge!

I entered light on white with what I thought was decent and should be at least at 5.5, but it is only at 5.19 right now; no comments but 1 favorite (go figure!).

I just didn't have the time to do either of the other 2 challenges, so this week is not looking good at all.

Sorry Rae-Ann about your week.

Guys, I think we are feeling a lot of pressure to do this team thing, and it shouldn't seem like a burden. (I feel like I am letting everyone else down.) Why don't we approach this differently? We should be here to support each other and have fun, RIGHT? So if we can do a challenge, then go for it. If not, that's okay. I don't want to have to try and create something when I am just not feeling it.

I don't really like having to come up with something for every challenge either. On the positive side though, this forces me to do something. Otherwise I might not enter but 1 out of 4 or 5 challenges.

I just entered something for "famous last words". Not expecting too much. I'm not sure it'll go over very well.

I didnt get any shot in this week...I had garbage and then I got laid off from my job and it kicked the wind out of my sails...

I promise to redouble my efforts next week....Maybe DrJones can lend me some babes for the Bond challenge : )

Don't beat yourself up over this. You don't suck.
Sorry to hear about your job.

I agree, no worries about entering them all.

It seems they are running out of ideas to come up with a challenge like this Bond one... Not sure if can pull off anything interesting for it.

Sorry to hear about your job, Rae-Ann. Hope you find something BETTER very soon!

My diagonal is at a 5.8ish at the moment. I'm hoping to break a 6 with this one. I'm just glad "the year you were born" is over so I don't have to look at it anymore!!

We had snow here this morning, but it's already starting to melt. I thought I might have a good photo opportunity, but not this time.

I really know next to nothing about Bond, so I expect to get nothing. I'll have to see if something strikes an idea though, you never know.

Well, at least you did better than my Perspective... lol.

How's everyone doing this week, if you have anything entered? My diagonal is currently holding a 6, but just barely. My free study is at a disappointing 5.5 when I expected an easy 6. Oh well; I just never know if my expectations of the outcomes are going to be right or not.

6 sounds good, hope you keep that diagonal score.

I'm having photographer's block. I'm beginning to feel that anything over a 5.5 is great.

12/02/2006 07:14:34 PM · #235
My diagonal had been just barely over 6 for the past days. Now it is just a little under. I hope it will bounce back by the deadline. My Light on White III is a lost cause... the poor little one's at 4.57 - I can't believe it!

Any plans for Bond and/or Life/Death?

Hey guys, how are you doing?
I just enter my JB. Not sure what will do about Life, though (Death is definitely out of question).

hey i'm here. Nothing ready for james bond.
I have a good shot but i used my dslr for it. I'm trying to limit my entries to my p&s.

I'm still working on the open challenge.

Tempting, isn't it? How do you like your new DSLR so far?

love it. problem is that most all shoot now is with the dslr. There is so much difference between the two and I'm still discovering that. today i tried some RAW format.

I'm going to try to carry only my p&s with me for a bit longer. It's just so hard to limit myself like that. One advantage is the convience of the p&s, small and ready.

I can see very good stuff from it in your portfolio...
12/04/2006 12:14:42 AM · #241
Personally I don't think it's a big deal if you enter an image from your DSLR here and there. Lots of other people who are competing use them as well, and I don't see why it really matters. I especially feel this way in a situation such as your current one. You got a shot that has potential, but just because you used your new camera you aren't entering it. I respect you wanting to uphold the integrity of our team name, but if you want to enter a picture I say just do it. This is all just IMO of course.

thanks for understanding (could've used that comment 20 min ago..haha)
it really doesn't matter though, i'll still post it in my portfolio.

ok...I think I have something for Life, tonight..Well I DO, I just don't know which one yet....
And I have a start on, ugh, Dirt, as well...

Here's wishing us all luck!
Do well tonight guys, you had your slacker captain to make up for!
12/05/2006 07:30:23 PM · #244
That's better than what I have, Rae-Ann, which is nothing. How's everyone else doing for tonight's challenges? How are your scores rounding out in Diagonal and Famous Last Words? My diagonal is still just above a 6, and I'm hoping to come up with some idea for tonight. My Bond pic is getting an awful score, but I'm getting fantastic comments!

Above a 6 is sweet Lorene!!
I hope it climbs up even more for roll over : )
I am kinda shoe horning an entry in Life, but I have like, 5 edits and I can not figure out which one..hate this part!!

I've got one in for Life, just hope voters will think it fits the challenge. I also have an idea for Dirt. Shouldn't be a problem finding some, since I live in such a rural area. :)

Good news - one of my photos won 2nd place in the people category of the Five State Photography Exhibition and Competition. I'm using the money toward the purchase of a better camera. Thinking about getting a Canon Rebel Xti.

That is AWESOME Lynnmarie! Congrats!
Can we see the pic??

Thanks, Rae-Ann. I think Nathan and I both have ideas for tonight's challenges now, so hopefully we can pull it off before roll-over. It's definitely hard to choose the best image sometimes. Good luck with that!

Lynnmarie, fantastic news! Many congrats, and yes we'd love to see the pic if possible. Nathan and I are getting a rebel xti for Christmas, so if you haven't gotten your new camera yet we'll let you know how we like it!

Whoops, I am Nathan! Hehe, sorry, wrong user logged in!

You already have! It's the silhouette picture on my "trading card". When I entered this photo in the silhouette challenge in August, I received 45 comments during the voting. I was so new to this website that I didn't realize that was a lot of comments. Following the suggestions I got, telling me the picture would be so much better with the negative space removed, that's exactly what I did. I submitted the revised version into the photo competition.

Yes, I'm also interested in the lenses you might be getting, also.

Looks like the Point and Shooters team may have to change their name with all the camera changes, right?
