I've always wanted a fisheye lens, and right now I have the money for it.

I found this site and lens: Eastwave.ca.
Is this lens allright for my 30D?
Do you guys have experiences with this site?
Is there another good site or maybe one cheaper site (I'm Dutch, lol)
Is the lens ready to shoot, or do I need some kind of thing on it?

Tips appreciated!

Should work great with your 30D. You'll need an adapter to EOS, but they should sell that with it.

MS Peleng AC has a dedicated Canon EOS mount allowing to use the lens with Canon EOS cameras.

the mount isn't enough?

There are a few sellers of this lens on Ebay - about the same price. If you buy on Ebay check the sellers feedback... there was one that didn't have such a good reputation and as the price was the same elsewhere why would you bother with them?

You should be able to buy the lens with an adaptor that mean it will attach straight to your Canon. I have a Peleng for my Pentax. It is fully manual and a little strange to use initially.... but lots of fun.

Big tip - set the focus on about 1m and everything from about half a meter to the horizon will be in focus even with the lens wide open - fisheyes have fantastic depth of field...

if you go the ebay route then stay away from

kievcamera.

Took over 30 days to get mine in the mail. He is in Atlanta and I am 1 hour north of Atlanta.

Sorry I don't remember who it was, Eastwave look OK. When on Ebay there is a seller's reputation section - just click on the sellers name and you are there.
Anyone with less than 99% positive - beware...
Less than 98% positive - forget it!

MAke sure you double check postage costs to your address - in some cases this is a much bigger difference than the difference in selling price. Ebay's insurance does not cover you for postage either.

Don't go the ebay way. Pay the extra to get igt from a reputable company or a fellow DPC'er that may be selling.

@ Rex: I'm not sure about ebay. the best would be if I could buy it in a shop ;)

@ Leok: what do you mean with postage costs? shipping?

i buy tons of stuff on ebay. just make sure you go paypal, you'll be fine. if you have problems, you can just contact them to get your money back. I bought my 20d, my c700, my laptop, and my 200mm 2.8L. ebay is fine. go save some money.

Yes - shipping costs

As rex said kievcamera aren't worth the trouble...

AFAIK you won't find the Peleng in a shop - but buying from someone repuatble on Ebay is not a problem. If I am a little dubious I use my credit card via Paypal - both the credit card and Payapl will chase the vendor or refund your money if there is a problem.

ebay is not the problem just stay away from kiev. There are plenty more reputable people on ebay selling this lens. And if you have a little patience you can get one of of here or fredmiranda.com

Ok, thanks for your help guys! I ordered mine via eastwave.com.

But I do have one question. I heard that sometimes the shutter will collapse against a wide-angle lens. I don't know if this is the deal with this Peleng, combining with my type of camera.

Any ideas?

I can't see that happening, what could happen (but is really unlikely) is that the mirror migth "touch" the back on the lens when focusing to infinity. But this is more of an problem when using m42 lenses on canons's film bodies.
