Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the camera world. When entering a contest, what does 'ISO' mean? Where can I find it?
Thanks, Anna

hi anna, welcome ...
ISO is the sensitivity of the sensor, it's taken originaly from ASA value from film negatives. i'm sure someone will explain it better ... or
//www.photoxels.com/tutorial_iso.html
//www.dpreview.com/learn/?/key=sensitivity
welcome again

PS: oh yes, in your camera settings you can probably adjust iso settings, and then later when looking at photos on your camera press info or something like that so you can see the parameters that photo has been taken, or when you dowload the photos to your PC the software you are using to look photos surely can display these values and of course ISO as well

and a step further, low ISO is less sensitive, so it requires a longer shutter speed, but it results in less noise. Higher iso is more sensitive allowing you to use faster shutter speeds, but the higher the ISO the more noise you'll get.

And "noise", in picture terms, are grainy looking pixels in your image.

Seems most digitals perform quite well at 400 and 800 ISO. Try some tests by taking the same shot, once with a very low ISO, again at very high ISO, and compare.

Hope that helps for starters.

Oops - and to answer our question about where to find it! ISO is in the EXIF data of your image.

In Windows XP for example, RIGHT CLICK the image, PROPERTIES, click the SUMMARY tab.

(Sorry, wandered off your original question!)
