I try not to hang onto cameras for too long and get attached to them, so I don't come to the conclusion that I need any one camera/lens to be a good photographer. And, since I've had my XT system for almost a year now, I'm getting kind of anxious to move on...
What I'm thinking right now is to sell the XT, 18-55, 70-210 and 28-75 and maybe 50, keep the 1N and the fisheye, and get a Leica M6 with a Summicron 50mm 2.0.
Good idea? Really stupid to ask on a digital photography website? :P
I would get either another Canon G5 or a Sony 707/717 so I could still shoot digital, I had good luck with my G5 and stdavidson and others convinced me that SLR's aren't exactly required for good work.
I think I'd just about break even, but is the Leica really that good of a camera and the Summicron that good of a lens?
I would probably be getting another DSLR next summer when I get a job, depending on how many hours and whether I need a car - probably a 5D if it's cheap enough by then (or an O.G. 1DS), and a 17-40. |
