When my dad died I did up a card-type thing. I don't know what you would call it, but it was a little smaller than a half sheet, and I had a small photo and the obituary on one side, and another small photo and poem on the other side.

I'm trying to do one for my mother now, but between being braindead and more than a little stressed, not having anything but the basic programs put onto my new harddrive yet, and my total lack of skill at this kind of thing, I just can not seem to get it to work.

What would be the easiest program to do this type of thing that even a know-nothing could handle? Anyone with some super advice? It would be MUCH appreciated.

What do you have installed on your computer right now?

Another option is that you could post a photo and perhaps what text you want and let us help ya out.

Microsoft publisher 98 is great for layout and design.

Digital Image Suite 9 has cards, brochures and crafts much like MS Publisher but also has an photo editor kicks elements butt any day... this is the previous version but for 9 bucks + shipping... hey...

Now that I think of it you can get a 60 day Trial of Digital Image Suite 2006 it should have the photo projects in it...

Leroy, I was reallly hoping someone would say that, but I thought it was too much to ask.... I WUV YOU! :)

I do appreciate the program suggestions too, and will definitely try working with them, but if folks are willing to give it a try I won't object, as there really are soooooooooo many things needing my attention right now.

I only have the crap that comes with Windows at the moment, noooo extra editing stuff at all since my hard drive crash. I don't even have any extra fonts yet. :( I'll upload the photo I have. I'm not sure how great it'll be because it's a scan. (also lost 10 thou photos in my crash). The poem is here;
"I'm Free"
We're working on the obit still, and I have to find one more photo, but the poem and photo would get one side done, anyway.

Man, I don't expect you guys to do my work for me, but if anyone WANTS to, I appreciate it more than I can say!!

eta;

I'm not sure which photo would work better, b/w or colour. I did the b/w ready for the newspaper and then we decided to cheap out and not use a photo.

I don't need fancy, just a small photo centered at top, followed by poem in a nice script. And if nobody does feel like doing it, that's fine too, I won't be insulted. :) Thanks guys :D

I'm putting this thread on Watch, as it's very near time for me to hit the sack, but I will look and see what you have posted here tomorrow.

Remember, you have true friends here that will help you in whatever ways we can. I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment. *hugs*

Go to bed! As long as you keep being so sweet I'll never get a chance to stop crying.

Yes, I need to do that. I'll do some work on it tomorrow. BTW, if you have a full-size scan of that image, feel free to e-mail it to the e-mail addy in my profile.

Off to bed... *one more hug*
