Well now, a GHOST photographer would explain why I can't see the slideshow! ;-)

I don't have a shadow or a reflection either.

I kinda assumed that...

Show off! ;-)

Ya already know imma big fan. Each and every slideshow of yours I've seen stirs some sort of emotion, usually laughter (guys peeing in horse stalls rings a bell), always joy and sometimes even tears. And I don't even know any of those folks, so you must be doing something right.

Although, it probably has more to do with that Ivo said. ;-P

Awesome! I was able to view the whole thing with no problems. I loved the pictures with her dad in them and now proud he is of her and how he approves of her 'husband to be' in the photos...

I've got an entire office full of Windows machines (XP sp2) that can not view it.

all with the same software I'd assume, given that you're inthe same office. I just uninstalled and reinstalled windows media player on my laptop, and the latest version works perfectly. SP2 doesn't have the latest version of WMP, so you'd have to get it (or at least the codecs) to make it work.

I don't want to see it that bad. Getting people to view your stuff is somewhat of a lowest common denominator kind of thing.

My advice - If you want people to see it, code it so they can.

windows media player IS the lowest common denominator. you just have to keep your software up to date. I can't control whether people download updates, but since it's free and easy on windows machines, it's the best option that I know of. The people that matter will do just that.

Amazing, simply amazing. I'd love to know what you use and how you do it, heck, I'd love to tag along one day if I could. I am in complete awe. This is the sort of stuff I'd want for my wedding...

And for all you people who can't get it to work, use VLC media player, it plays everything. And I know it works for this since it's playing on my computer right now.

Actually Quicktime Player is on more machines than Windows Media Player.

that's news to me - I actually had to manually install quicktime on my computer, so I made the assumption that more machines would have the player that comes with the OS. any ideas on software that either does the same thing as photostory (with the panning and transitions etc) with .MOV output, or one that competently converts .WMV to Quicktime?

Depends on your OS. For apple, yes. For windows, not necessarily. It's all a moot point anyways isn't it? I think the point here is really whether or not Pedro's INTENDED audience can view it. That'd be the family.

Beyond that it's just nice to have. Most web stuff is alternately coded with sniffers on the main page to see what browser, plugins etc the visitor has and then directing the browser to the pages and extras that will work for that visitor. That's a pain in the ass but when one has 1000's of visitors with IE 5-7, Firefox, Opera and numerous others the line has to be drawn somewhere.

In Pedro's case perhaps it would be best, as he says, to find a way to get his Photostory stuff exported to both wmv (even though a codec is required which I had no prob with here or at home after the download) and .mov which I've had more problems with than success.

Anyways, blah, blah, blah. M2C worth. Bottom line is that his intended audience is all that really matters. The rest of us need to figure it out for ourselves.

No it doesn't. I tried it.

It doesn't really matter. Like pedro said, it's his clients that matter. I just wanted to see his pictures, and I'm kinda miffed that I can't. Actually, I'm more miffed that I can't figure this out. It really bugs me when I can't figure out something.

Pedro - stunning pics, I have my first wedding shoot coming up in a month and your talent is making me nervous ;-)

As far as the codec wars are concerned I would stay away from wmv (Microsoft) and mov (Quicktime=Apple) - both companies are in the business of making things that go out of date :-(

Mpeg would be a better choice IMHO - its used by DVDs etc. I'd try using an old MPEG2 codec - should work with most PCs without requiring big downloads of software and codecs. Mpeg4 will produce smaller files but I would not recommend it as there is no universal codec available AFAIK and even if someone has announced it most users with older PCs would still have to download something new to get it to work.

edit - I can spell or type but not at the same time :-(

he he...the file is 51MB already - in MPEG 2 it would be 500MB or so :). I have used .avi and divx before, but ran in to way more problems than wmv. I don't think it's the best compression algorhythm or anything, but after posting several dozen slideshows I've found this format to give me the least trouble. I may give quicktime a go just to see how it fares, but I suspect I'll remain with this one until something more universal comes along. Anyone tried using Flash Players for this sort of thing?

Wow, you're good. Almost makes me want to try a wedding or so, just because they look like real pictures, not just wedding pictures.

Do you scout locations beforehand and suggest to the party, or do they come up with the funky locations?

The movement/scrolling and the music is very touching.
