I know that this subject has been briefly mentioned in previous threads, but here are some more thoughts on it. I think that all of us enjoy the Free Study challenges, and we never seem to get tired of them. But they also serve a useful purpose. It encourges us to take more photos than just those to meet a certain challenge. Then we can choose what we consider to be our best work. Of course, we also realize that we are going to be up against formidable competition. I hope that Langdon gets a chance to read this and gives serious consideration to make this a regular challenge.

Actually, I am not a big fan of a lot of Free Studies. The challenge assignment is what makes DPC what it is.

There are many POTD sites out there for open non-specific contests. I speak only for myself, but the assignment and the deadline are what makes DPC the best photo contest site.

That said, the occasional free study or Best Of type are great.

We've already been discussing this. Just be patient.
