I love the look of InfraRed Photography, and know very little about it.

Here's what I know:

You need to use a filter
You need to compose before you use the filter as the filter blocks all visible light
You need to post process to get you finished image.

How much more is involved?
How do you get the pink trees vs. the white trees?

Is there a tutorial/How to... on DPC or a thread?

Thanks guys for you help.

Here is the tutorial that Marbo always suggests. I just barely watched it last night and it helps out tons. Also, make sure you set the white balance, shoot in RAW if possible, and then just try the PP until you get what you want.

Thanks for the help.

Out of interest, I thought the WB made no difference in RAW - set it later?

The WB you set in RAW is the starting point. You can adjust it in the RAW converter.

i've found that setting WB up front is much easier to deal with. in my experiance with IR, trying to tweak WB in RSE or PS after the fact is more trouble.

i'm guessing the values recorded for WB in IR are out of the normal ranges these RAW converters are designed for...

If you want white trees you set WB off of something green (like grass), easier than fine tuning it in a RAW converter.
