I'm looking to get a good tripod. Could you guys help me out getting the right one? There are far too many out there for me to choose from.

This is going to come down to what your priorities are. some questions:
- Is weight important?
- Is support important?
- How heavy are your lenses going to be?
- Do you want interchangable heads?
- How mobile do you want to be?

I have a Carbon-Fiber Gitzo G1958 because mobility and travel are important to me. I wanted something that I could carry on a foru day trek (for the same reason I haven't considered any L tele-zoom glass).

Many threads here on Tripods and heads. A search should turn up volumes.

Many here use Bogen Manfrotto legs and ball heads. B&H is one source to look them over. The 3021 pro has many advantages for your consideration.

B&H

Bogen/Manfrotto 3221WN for $174.95 and a Bogen/Manfrotto 486 Ball head for $56.95, about $32 above your budget. But this is a good combination that should last you a long time.
