I know there are a few DP users that are also heavily involved in video editing. I can't remember who they are, but I know you're out there. I'm trying to decide if upgrading to a new Mac Pro G5 with Final Cut Pro is worth the cost over a program like Premiere Pro.
Also, for all of you non-video editing Mac users, is switching over to a Mac worth the cost? Are they as good as they claim to be? I've always been a die hard PC user, although I'm completely open to other options. I've just never made the leap.
In particular, I'm trying to get feedback on the brand new Mac Pro desktop PC's (I guess they aren't calling them G5's any more...).
Thanks for any and all input.

I prefer Mac because of the monitors they use. I have the G5 iMac 20" and a G4 iBook 14" I find them brighter, better, clearer than any PC monitor I have ever seen. If you want to stick with a PC interface you have 2 choices
1-keep your PC and buy a cinematic mac monitor
2-Buy the new iMac 20" with Intel inside and run XP pro on it
But... Im a die hard mac convertee so I say Buy a G5 iMac fill it up with RAM and enjoy the best editing. I have friends who run video and music editing companies... They use the G5 Power Macs with twin 30" cinema monitors. Expensive but OHHHH MAN! what a trip.

Thanks Alionic. Good info. Any other Mac enthusiasts (or haters) out there?
