I am wondering.

Transcend

Sandisk

I read the reviews and the Transcend gets better reviews than the Sandisk. Anyone have any experience with the Transcend cards?

Should I buy Sandisk? Twice as much.

I've never heard of Transcend until today but I've used Sandisks before and never had a problem with those.

I have a Transcend SD card, never had a problem with it. I'd buy another one.

I am thinking Sandisk is so expensive because of the name.

Probably, but Transcend isn't really a small name either. They've been around for quite some time and have some pretty good stuff.

wondering why they only offer a 5 year warranty?

I have 2-2GB and not a single problem. Was recommended by (?) someone on here. I want to say it was Scalvert, but can't remember for sure.

yep, Shannon recommended Transcend to me (he should own stock in them), as well. I'm happy.

I pm'ed Shannon....he is always so helpful as is everyone else here.

I am guessing that I have a 1 gig and it will hold 110 images in RAW format. So with a 4GB I can hold roughly 440 images.

Now whether or not to buy a generic battery or Canon OEM.

I bought a generic from My Digital Discount. It does a nice job. Cheaply.

I use the stirlingtek ones and have had no issues at all. They were WAY cheaper and have a higher capicity.

I got the Transcend 120X 4gb a couple weeks ago for $75 on Amazon, but I just checked for you and it's up to $94 for some reason. I also have Sandisk Ultra II's and Lexar Pro, and the Transcend seems a tad bit slower during bursts to write to than my others, but I've never done anything scientific and timed it so it's probably just me. 440 RAW shots is about right.

That is where I listed it in my first post and I have bought 2.

Also bought a extra battery and some card readers. No to determine if I need to keep the 40Gig stand alone drive.

For those wondering got my two 4GB cards today.

For a 30D this is what it holds

JPEG Large - 1170 Not real sure cause the 30D only reads to 999 so I show here what Transcend shows
RAW - 454
RAW + JPEG - 319

Will test these cards this weekend.

Looks like my only concern doen't matter. I was concerned about the 5 year warranty but they have a Lifetime Warranty.
