I just did senior pictures for a friend's son. He needed his yearbook photo by this Friday. Main priority is that one. However there are several others that he is interested in, and the family also sort of became involved, wanting pictures of their own. I need to give them a CD for proofing and am wondering what is the best way to resize the photos to much smaller "proof" size. Outside of e-mailing the image to myself, is there a better way to "batch" resize these photos? |

Depends on you image-editing software, but most have a way to automate this process. In Photoshop, you can set up an action to do what you want, and then look under the File menu for the "Automate" command.
Irfanview is free software, and has a batch conversion command, which includes resize and many other options. If you just want to resize them for proofs (and you use Windows) that's probably the way to go. |

...if not Picasa does a batch resizing as well. Just remember to export them after resizing.

Actually, I just set up an action, did the batch resize and it worked great. I did get to a different folder to save the files, though am not sure how I did and would like to "control" that a bit more. Just in case I hadn't deleted the files from my flash card. Am out of CDs, so have to run out and get some. But thanks to all! |

.
For a quick, no-frills resizing (of one or more, together), try the Windows XP Image Resizer. It's free and you can simply right-click on the file while in the Windows File Explorer and choose to resize.
Follow the link below and scroll down to the "Image Resizer". The description is on the left and the download link will be on the right side of the page.
Best of all, it FREE.
