| I certainly understand the limitations of ISO 3200, but should I be wary of ISO 50? It seems like I should since it's a custom feature and not part of the normal range, but I'm not quite sure why? |

| I have used it with good results on several occasions. You need lots of light or a flash. I think that is why they make it custom. |

| I think I heard somewhere that the noise is the same at ISO 50 as 100, but I'm not sure about that. I guess it'd be useful for using the 1/200th X-sync in daylight, although I make do with ISO 100 on mine most of the time. |

| ISO 50 is suposedly a "done in software" setting like ISO 3200. It doesn't change the analog gain of the amplifiers. If so, then it would have somewhat less dynamic range than ISO 100, being essentially eqivalent to overexposing 1 stop at ISO 100 and pullng back in RAW conversion. |

I shoot at ISO 50 on my 1DMKII all the time. I've not noticed if it was any better or worse than ISO 100 but it does give me another stop control over depth of field.

| I wouldn't worry about it, especially on the 5D. If you need it to slow your shutter speed down, use it. |

Yep, thats about how I understand it. You won't get less noise, just less DR. Good if you need to slow down the shutter speed and thats about it. |

Shot this with iso 50. I used neat image, but there really wasn't any visible noise. |

| Thanks for the help guys. I'm the type of photog who uses 2 seconds as an exposure 10 times for every 1/1000th. I love slow shutter speeds. |

Just keep that 24-105 off it. I wanna keep my spot on that page for a little while longer.
