I realize that this probably has little relevance to others, but I wanted to put it out there.
I really want to sincerely thank Notonline and Canada Post for coming through for me when I had no other options.
As a Canadian living in a foreign country, it was impossible for me to use the Paypal option of paying for membership here either by direct deposit or by credit card (even though during the 3 month ordeal of wrestling with Paypal I ended things by cancelling my account with them - my credit card was still tied to them). I wanted to upgrade for some time and voiced my feeling in the forums.
Notonline took the initiative and spoke with his boss at Canada Post who decided to spring for a gift membership.
This was truly above and beyond anything I ever imagined. Both from Notonline (who I only know as a fellow member of DPC) and Canada Post as a large organization/business in Canada with no special obligation towards me.
my membership term will come to an end in two days, but that brings me to my second thanks.
I also wish to thank Langdon and possibly Drew or whoever else was involved in what was probably no small task in dealing with the paperwork to get DPC registered as a safe and secure website which allows normal credit card payment not as tied to paypal specifically.
Thanks to this option, I was able to punch in a few numbers and have my membership renewed in two minutes. The thing that took the longest to complete the action was walking across the room, getting my wallet out and pulling out my seld-used card. Truly a far cry from the repeated phone calls at my own expense from Taiwan to Paypal's corporate HQ in Idaho or wherever those guys are so I could listen to hold music for twenty five minutes before being accused of fraud and various other sundry.
I will not be taking advantage of the extra 450MB of disk space, but I think it's a fantastic offer and I am appreciative of that possibility as well. I can only hope that this next year leads to even more productive photography.
Thanks again to DPC and these special folks for the last year and the next! |

Nice one! Paypal is a mixed blessing, IMO. I have been a user since they started - but I would very much like to dump them since their fees are usury. |

I, for one, want to second your thanks to the DPC community for their incredible generosity and efforts helping you with your Paypal issue. DPC is a caring and generous group.
