Canon Rebel XT with Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III - bought lens about 6-7 months ago.
Never dropped or abused, then suddenly, it hangs/sticks around the 100mm mark. You have to use more force to get it over the 100mm 'hump'.
This does not affect the fine-tuning/auto-focus.

What has been your experience with Canon support?

I had this happen with my 28-135 lens. I sent it to Canon. They took so long that they replaced the lens. It took about 4 weeks.

I bought the lens on June 2, 2006.
Today is Tuesday, Sep 26. I went to Canon USA Support and got a confirmation number and a quote of $0 since it's under warranty. I sent the lens by UPS 2-day to NJ location. I included a copy of my receipt and a copy of my warranty card. Let's see what happens. *crosses fingers*

Overall good experience. They had the lens back within two weeks - fixed. Although they didn't say what was wrong. $0.00 repair.

Well, curiosity killed the cat but a fixed lens never hurt anybody. Glad to hear that things worked out.
