I am running out of light! I'd like to photograph some hometown sports events, but with the lighting in a gymnasium I am finding it hard. Even now with the evening hour football games I am coming up short of adequate light. Is anybody else having the same problem? Is there an idea lurking that eludes me?

You need faster lens and a good flash. I shoot night football for the local paper and dont really have that much trouble with shooting. I even shoot at 800 ISO most times. Your lens selection is holding you back. You need an F2.8 telephoto and a decent flash with ettl. If you want some samples of my stuff PM me and I'll link you to some examples.

I shoot high school football at night. I use my 75-300mm lens, set my iso at 800 and shoot at 1/100 - 1/125 using only the stadium lighting. Here is a shot using those settings. Hope it helps!
