How long has it been now since the last challenge with no post-editing restrictions? This was a GOOD idea, I want to do some more.
Hands up those who agree...

The last was The Future, at the start of August. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Instead of no restrictions, how about we try something more subtle? like.. no restrictions, but it must still look like a photograph.. and that you can still use just one photograph as a source. Some of the "no restrictions" contests we've been having go a little too much into digital art for my taste, "future".. "windows and doors"...

I would be happy to see DPC adopt editing rules like those over on TrekEarth (emphasis mine. It has been demonstrated time and time again how much "digital art" you can create with the current allowable editing tools):

Originally posted by TrekEarth:

Only photographs are permitted. Images may not be digitally manipulated in an image editing program ie, Photoshop except for the following reasons:

Copyright notices and (straight-edged) frames
Cropping, resizing and sharpening
Touching up (dust, slight imperfections)
Levels, Curves, Color adjustment, Hue, Saturation etc. for minor image enhancements.
Multiple exposures to get proper exposure values
Stitching for panoramic photos
Color conversion to Black and White, Sepia, Duotone etc.
Perspective correction for parallax or lens distortion.

To me, these rules embody the rules that a good photographer would use when creating photos.

Allowing "no holds barred" editing is asking for trouble, similar to what happened in the Future challenge. Unless you want to allow the possibility of "digital art". Since this site is about photography, I'd prefer to see rules that try to keep the focus (no pun intended) on the photography.

Would love a chance to edit--it's just a different aspect to learn more about.

I'm always up for an 'editing allowed' challenge!
Here is one I did recently. The original is a nice shot, but the bottle appears to be floating. I added the surface, shadow, and reflection in Photoshop. I my opinion, this made a decent shot better, without looking like Digital Art.

Smellyfish - it's pretty good looking, except for the fact that the reflection is physically impossible :) try making it go straight down....

I had it straight down, but my wife wanted me to make it go to the side. I agree with you, though!
