Just saw that and thought people here could be interested. Digital Photo Pro Magazine has a photo contest. The first prize is U$10.000 cash. The catch, though, is that it has to be edited in Windows, and printed with an Epson printer (weird...)
Here's some more info: link

Good luck! :)

Looks like I don't get to go for the $10G What a shame because I bought several copies of Windows over the years and have owned 3 Epson printers but because I am not a student or a pro I am not worthy. Going shopping for a Canon or HP printer tomorrow, Good time to switch to MAC too. lol

Entry Rules from the contest webpage,

Open to students who are currently enrolled in a photography course at an accredited college or university or to professional photographers with up to three years of professional experience. All entries must be optimized on a computer running Microsoft Windows and submitted on a CD as a Photoshop .PSD file along with separate print(s) of the original photo submission(s) using an Epson printer and Epson ink.

Thanks for the info! I'm definately going for it. Who knows, you may see me in a magazine:)

From what I read it just has to be done on a computer that runs on Microsoft Windows. Here is the quote from it.

Format: All entries must be (i) optimized on a computer running Microsoft Windows and submitted on CD as a Photoshop .PSD file and (ii) printed using an Epson printer and Epson ink. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.

Meaning that it can be edited in Photoshop, but it excludes Mac because they don't run Windows

I don't see how they will check that you're a professional with less than 3 years. What is a professional, anyway? Plus, if it's less than 3 years, let's just say you started being a professional today. You just decided you'll be one. It's less than 3 years, right? Who are them to deny? ;)

I would also like to know how to prove you've been a professional for three years or more.

I'd like to know how to prove it was editted on a Windows machine and how to prove it was printed on an Epson printer with epson ink. :-)

I have Windows and Photoshop, and I know someone with an Epson printer I could use, only problem is I'm not enrolled in a photography class.

The way the file is built and saved will tell you what OS it runs, and I'm sure they can analyze the prints to verify that they were printed with Epson.

I have been thinking about this, I have owned cameras since I was in 4th Grade. I have taken photos for that long although never really seriously til the past year or two, for the past six years I have been shooting video for a living, many times working side by side with a wedding photographer. Thats close enough. I am going to give this contest a shot. I need funds for some accessories.

I guess this means you shouldn't submit an image you wish to sell or sell prints of, as they'll own your entry, even if it doesn't win.

i think they mean the actual piece of paper with the print on it won't be sent back to you.

I believe that's what they meant. That's not what they said.
