No, didn't mean to be so specific, sorry.
When you use any of the canon software, for viewing, downloading, editing...the original EXIF stays entact. Three different Canon people have said this. (Called for other reasons, too.) |

Ok, I called Canon just to find out for sure!! (Sorry guys, don't have any info on the other software.)
Canon DPP, EOS Capture, ZoomBrowser ALL DO NOT CHANGE THE EXIF FILE |
And do you know about the EOS Utility? Someone must know...
I'm fairly sure it must leave the EXIF intact, to be honest. I've looked at the EXIF info on a few of my downloaded files and I can't see any mention of the program, they only seem to contain camera-created data. Whereas Elements etc clearly leave a line in the EXIF showing that they were used. |

I use the EOS Utility for transfer my pictures to the computer. My only validation request of a file transferred this way went through fine. |

I just found a neat "trick" yesterday for Mac users. If you open the original image file in Preview.app then click on Tools -> Get Info (or optionally use the keyboard shortcut cmd-I) it will show you a dialog with info about the image. Click on the 'Details' tab on the dialog and you can see most (if not all) of the EXIF data for the image. |

Thanks for that pointer, Kat!
Zoombrowser version 5.6 had introduced a problem - the download had a preview function which couldn't be turned off and slowed things down so much!!!
Now, in v 5.7, it seems to be fixed again. I just tested it with 7 photos - they downloaded SO quickly that I didn't even realized it had happened. Love it! |
